Organisation
We have now completed the "Herald" Prepared Speech Competition and I am pleased to tell you that Mrs Kelly Walters was the winner, and Mr Noel Ball the runner-up.
The Champion Memorial Trophy for Impromptu Speaking was won by Mr Dennis Edwards, and Marie Barriball and Gavin Logan were the joint runners-up.
For those of us who were able to attend, we have a very varied cultural evening, with time for serious contemplation, pathos, drama and humour. Entertainment for all. Thanks to all those who competed and to the adjudicators.
It is still on Friday 20th November 8pm, but at Auckland Grammar Centennial Theatre and admission will be $2-50 including refreshments.
The moot is "That the P.M. belongs in the Jungle".
The Rostrum Club will affirm and Community Speakers will negate.
Enclosed is a Poster: please try to display this prominently. It will be an evening of entertainment and we would welcome a large audience.
This will be the last News-letter for 1981, so may I be the first to wish you a Happy Christmas and Great Debating for 1982.
